What A Country, What A People.
It is amazing how much more Jesus means to a people who have nothing rather than a people who have everything. The Ugandan people are so open to the gospel, and the work that was done there in our two weeks in no way can compare to the work that Christ was doing before we ever arrived, and will continue to do well after we are gone. These people live in situations that some could not even imagine, but the difference is that they have very little, and that little is sometimes not in good condition at all, and we have very much, but we are always looking for more and better. They get so excited when you arrive in their village and the places where they live, They know that the mzungus(white people) are coming, but more than just coming, coming to them. Regardless of the fact that we are bringing gifts for them and their children, and medical care and help, we are bringing the greatest gift ever given to man, the gift of salvation. These people are so desperate for whatever it is that we have to give them, and it is heart breaking to have to turn them away from the medical clinic because we cannot accept anymore, but they still have the concerns and needs as a lot of others, but we just cannot take them. In one of the villages, when the time approached to close the clinic, the Ugandan people of that village were literally trying to push, sneak and break their way into the clinic, which cause us to set up 4 men in about a 6 foot half circle with arms locked together holding our ground from the men, women and children pushing in, while it was raining extremely hard. In another village, one of the largest yet, it was saddening to see over 2000 people fighting their way to try in get in line to come into the clinic once we were packing up. They are so needy and waning of whatever it is that you have, especially if it is medical, that they will say and do whatever they think will get them seen, and that is something that is not seen at all in the states, but that is normal and everyday for these people. One thing that as a team we stressed on this trip was the fact that yes, medical is important, and yes giving them gifts that will help is important, but nothing was more important than us sharing the gospel and explaining to them about their creator and the One that loves them, regardless of what they've done. With that goal and mindset, in three villages, over 1600 people gave their lives to Christ and started a personal relationship with Him, and roughly over 4000 people were treated in the medical clinic. Praise The Lord! I will keep updating in the next couple days as time and internet are more readily available. Thanks for the prayers and support that made this trip possible for me.
